Snow on the homestead
2010 December 20
It’s day one, hour 3 of winter break and we’ve already passed through the stormy seas of whining, crying, sibling snarkiness, boredom and have landed on this peaceful island:
Currently, Col and Rose are making a TV out of my old cassette tapes. I think we’re going to survive.
What are your winter break plans?
XO,
Rachel

so jealous :)
It’s crazy how much Col looks like a mini Dan and Rose looks like a mini you. So adorable!
Anyhoo, my holiday plans are as follows: sleep; eat; sleep more; attempt making yogurt at home; sleep some more; eat; sleep; and finally, cry upon having to return to work.
Very nice snowman. We have the grandson for the whole week and I’m sure he will want to build a snowman or snow fort too. My wife is going to teach him how to ice skate…that should prove interesting.
I don’t think your chickens like the snow any better than ours do…brr.:) Stay warm.
Hoping to start by observing the total lunar eclipse tonight if the clouds clear. Happy Solstice to all

Yes, Happy Solstice!
We head up to Truckee and lots of snow (10 more inches to come, I heard) Wednesday before Christmas with my mom and then Mendocino for New Year’s next week . . .
I just love this time of year. xo
PS. What a great photo of the 4 of you!
Plans? I’m supposed to have plans???
I guess my plan is to make it up as I go along. I haven’t had a real vacation in a long, long time….
We’re still wading through sibling snarkiness, but I have hope. That’s what the holidays are all about, right??
Lovely portrait of you all. Happy Solstice to you Rachel!! Enjoy the winter wonderland!!!!
We’re making it up as we go, too, gratitude, spontaneity and grace and some luck thrown in. It will all be magical if I just let the kids lead!!!!!!!!!!

beautiful family.
Mine? We’re in it together. Traveling, crashin’, holding hands.
My plans are wonderfully complicated.
Love that family pic. So much love there.
Well, I dumped the kids off with one set of grandparents at the beginning of the week. I had 2 1/2 days by MYSELF at home (except when hubby was home in the evening). I could actually think!!!! I don’t know what we’ll do next week. We need to get outside, so maybe a hike is in order.
