“Raising Confident Girls” – Rose’s book club selection? ;-)
Love it!
Love it. So what’s her review on the book? :)
Great book choice, this it too cute!
Yes!
:<)
…and how does she feel about that particular book? :) Great shot!
Ask Rose if that’s a book I should read…. please ;-)

hey! i have that book too, rose. i think it’s great; what about you?
I think your daughter has good taste when selecting reading material. :) Your son looks like he is in deep thought with his project.
My moment ~ the most curious bird.

So when is Rose’s guest blog-post-book-review?? And is Col practicing his knot-tying or charming rope-snakes? Love this quiet moment of separate togetherness.
I was in a sour mood when I opened open this post. But now I’m smiling. XOXO
Speaking of confident girls, I met this family today in Montrose who runs a CSA. Well, it’s not even the family running the CSA, it’s the youngest 3 of their six kids. The oldest CSA worker girl, 16, takes care of the paperwork, the 14 year old girl takes care of the chickens, the 12? year old boy is in charge of watering. (I don’t think a big smile is part of his job but each time I saw him he looked like he was enjoying the funnest game in the neighborhood!) All of them take care of the vegetable garden which is massive and alive with lettuces, beets, cabbage, cucumbers that didn’t make it back to the hotel, etc etc. This garden was full on and rockin, surrounded by geese and lambs and hogs and just a whole lotta goodness. The youth and stature of the girl, Marietta, was full of verve, and yes, Confidence would be a good word. “Some people think I’m weired,” she said in an appologetic-yet-uncaring kinda way. Girl, I think you are awesome, I said.
Oh and by the way, these days when I see my mom, nestling to her is one of my best loved treats : )
I have a new appreciation for this photo. Plus I love the colors. Happy weekend!
Have you read that book? Would you recommend it?
XOXO
I got it from the library, because the subject does interest me, but no I wouldn’t recommend it. It had 50 tips for raising a confident girl in short little soundbyte-ish paragraphs that were pretty shallow. I’m seeing Rose’s confidence grow from spending time in the woods this summer, keeping up with Col on hikes and learning to be helpful around the house (gather chicken eggs, water the garden etc…) But if anyone does have a great book about raising confident girls I’d love to know.
Just seeing this now… what a wonderful slice of life! Love it.
