Ten smiles

2010 February 26
by Rachel Turiel

I was tagged by Sarah, the farm-raised Montana-native, honeybee-keeping, quilt-sewing, wild meat-loving Mama of 2 and 1 on the way,  who always dazzles me with her words and photos, and proprietoress of Bee House Hives, to list ten things that make me happy.

1) Cracking a dark beer on a summer garden afternoon, while casually surveying the crops and pulling a weed or two.

Rebecca modeling her gorgeous daughter in my August garden

2) My hometown–cowboys and hippies–which fits like an old sweater.

3) Girlfriends

4) Sun streaming in through south-facing windows, providing all the heat and light needed on a winter day.

5) Watching the kids do their thing.

6) A taste of summer, in winter (the story of the chard)

7) Dan, and what he brings to our lives

8. Gifts from the henhouse

9) Grandparent Love

10) Sharing the wild world with my children

Tagging:

1) Erin – Still Life with Coffee

2) Tamara – Sip with me

3) Erin – Exhale. Return to center

4) Kristi – Silver Sparrow Designs

5) Kyndale – Earthycrunchy

6) Diane – Mackville Road

7) Becky – Mommy wants vodka

8. Mama Zen – The Zen of Motherhood

PS: Thank you immensely for all your helpful comments on my technology woes. Shhhh – but my computer has been working flawlessly since I posted about it. The Mac-Love has been duly noted and will be thoroughly investigated.

Have a fantasical weekend!

And leave a comment to tell me what makes you happy.

What a fun post! I love your garden.

One thing that makes me happy is snuggling next to my 9 year old and talking about the books he is reading.

Thanks for tagging me – more fun things to come on my list

Thanks Rachel! I love your nature loving list! I should have added something about my chickens but 10 is just too short of a list! I think I may need a few more!

Last night I got to have a date with my husband. We drank stout…apparently way too much stout based on how I’m feeling this morning…but the love..oh the love for my man and good stout.

    Have a great weekend!

What a wonderful post to read this morning! What makes me happy is simple time spent with my family. As I write, my monkeys are preparing a parade that they want to show me in a few minutes. Priceless!

I absolutely LOVE that photo of the chickens. It is beautiful.

What makes me happy??? On a day like today, a smile from my baby or a sweet moment with my daughter is about all it takes. On a day that I could create for myself, well a good day on skis is just about the best feeling there is. Connecting with nature by any means, be it a good trail run or a hike, or a camping trip, or a mountain bike ride. Those are the things that come to mind at the moment.

I LOVE your list. The picture with all of the animals laid out to dry made me laugh. My daughter does that with Littlest Pet Shops.

I love the photos of the kids just doing their thing. Do they all innately know how to set things up on towels, blankets and more? Villages, towns and zoos!

What makes me happy? Seeing my 2 1/2 year old excited as she learns to use the potty…. knowing that we will soon be 100 percent diaper free in this house!

I had to laugh when I read your description of Durango. Yup. I lived there for awhile and still have family there. I totally miss it!!! I think I miss my mountains there the most.
